History
Since revolutionary times benig overweight was hard to acheive with malnutrition running rampant. Having a gut was a sign of good fortune and prosperity. Advances in technology has made an overabundance of easily accesible food, coupled with reduced physical activity since world war 2. Obesitiy has only been diagnosed as a chronic disease is less than a century old. Surveys have been done showing a steady rise of obesity since the mid seventies, 15%(1976-1980) to 32.9(2003-2004).
