Explaining the messages

The first message induces fear of the overweight individual,by listing scary statistics about obese related deaths, thegrowing number of overweight people in the country, etc. The message also uses obscene pictures of overweight peopleto show the extremes of the cronic disease. The reader willthen engage in fear control, hoping to not be anotherstatistic or death.

The second message associates having a good time with thediet pills. The flash animation is flashy and distracting,so the people don't analyze too deep about what they aretaking, they only think about losing the weight and howhappy they will be afterwards like the dancing couple in theanimation.

The third message explains two sides to an argument in apersuasive way with a summary at the end. There are noflashy distractions so anyone reading can take in botharguments and have time to come to their own conclusions.

Technological Fixes

Sometimes in order to cure obesity dieting is not enough. Sure you hear of people loosing 50-125 pounds off diets like the atkins diet, but what the real percentage of people who have actually succeeded in dieting?

The most common technological fix for obesity is liposuction, where a person's fat is literally sucked out of the desired area. The next most common technological fix is something that has been done by many stars such as Al Roker. It is called gastric bypass surgery. In this surgery, surgeons make the patient's stomach significantly smaller in order to stop binge eating.

Within recent years, new technologies and studies have found different ways to help obese people control and lose their weight. Many scientists have found out that a person's genes are very important when it comes to weight. Scientists have found out that the metabalism is genetic and if you can control the matabalism, weight loss can come easy.

Scientists have made certain strides to control a person's metabalism with dieting pills such as Zovatol, Crevax, and Phenocerin. Some say those are the answer and others dont trust them. Either way, is simply taking a pill the solution?

Many weight loss gurus believe that by finding the perfect workout routine a person can see a big difference in weight. We always see on television and in other media outlets these workout routines that promise weight loss followed by a statement from a scientist to back it up. Does this mean good old excercising is the way to go?
